5 Reasons to choose Merino

Hello,

This week we took delivery of our Merino range of Runderwear™. We first launched this in November and were so pleased with its success. We just wished we had more as we quickly sold out with incredible reviews by both our customers and the press.

With it now fully back in stock, we thought we would answer the question: What exactly is Merino and why is it a great material to use? Here are 5 points on why you should choose Merino.

1.  Keeping you warm when you're cold and cool when you're hot.

Natural Merino wool is very warm and remains warm when wet, making it perfect for anyone who wants to adventure outdoors. Merino wool also regulates body temperature - due to its natural breathability. This keeps you cool when you get hot as it wicks away any moisture effectively keeping you incredibly comfortable when you train and compete.

2.  Naturally Anti-bacterial

A great quality of Merino wool is its anti-bacterial properties. No smelly odour that you can get on other fabrics! Perfect if you are on a long multi-day adventure or spending a lot of time in your Runderwear.

3.  Softer than you think!

Merino fibres are extremely fine, enabling them to bend and flex far more than traditional, coarser wool fibres that you may have experienced. This makes Merino wool feel soft and luxuriously gentle next to your skin.

4.  Choosing the right Micron

Not all Merino Wool fibres are equal. The quality of Merino is measured on a level called Microns. The simplest way of looking at it is that the lower the level of Microns the finer and softer the Merino will feel next to the skin. Runderwear uses a level of 17.5 and 18. This is very low and means no itching and will be incredibly comfortable against your skin. It is also light and strong - perfect for exercising.

5.  Good for our playground

Love the outdoors? Then look after the outdoors. That is one of our sayings at Runderwear HQ.  Merino wool is grown year-round by Australia's 70 million Merino sheep, consuming a simple blend of water, air, sunshine and grass.  A great way to care for the environment so we can continue to enjoy it.

Thank you for your time and have a great week,
