REVIEW OF PRODUCT – RUNDERWEAR™ BRIEF – A SEAMLESS TRANSITION

Back in the day men wore the ubiquitous jock strap for virtually all physical activity. They were basically a pouch supported by a broad elastic strap. ‘Jocks’ came in S, M or L (small, medium or liar). Temperature regulation was achieved by the lack of material and support depended on the age of the garment as elastic and sweat were not an ideal combination.

Finally, after many false dawns with inferior products, we have Runderwear™ for men. This breakthrough in comfort owes much to the experience of the distaff side of the gender divide – and that is no bad thing. At last we have sport specific underwear for men, designed and even guaranteed not to chafe.

So how did the Runderwear™ men’s brief perform? This 60-something athlete and coach put his pants to the test in warm conditions on roads, trails and running track and in air conditioned gym sessions and core strength classes. The result – the Runderwear™ easily out-performed the runner!

First impressions are that the waist is a little higher than usual (think more Simon Cowell or Bridget Jones than Tom Daley) and the material feels soft, stretchy and warm. However, once in place they stay put and do a decent job of support where needed. Strategically placed perforations and excellent wicking properties deal with heat and sweat and there are, indeed, no seams to rub.

Overall, these are a useful addition to the kit bag and can be worn under tights or unlined shorts. In fact, this Runderwear™ convert has removed the ‘cheese grater’ mesh lining of a previously uncomfortable pair of shorts that can now be worn again without risking a visit to A&E.
